In one night, I lost $70,000 to a scam.
In 2012, I fell into debt.
I was reckless. I took out multiple bank loans and invested everything into what seemed like a legitimate gold company.
Then one morning, they vanished.
Website gone. No one to contact.
I felt like a complete screw-up. I didn’t know what to do.
I had no idea how I was going to climb out of that hole.
I was at rock bottom.
For weeks, I couldn’t talk about it.
The shame was unbearable.
But at some point, I realised I had two choices:
1) Stay in regret
2) Turn my failure into something useful
I chose the second option.
With no clear plan, I decided to start a personal finance blog.
A website blog to talk about the existence of such investment scams.
So hopefully others will be able to avoid what I went through.
I had no idea that one small step would change everything.
Creating the website blog led me to discover my passion for web design and direct response marketing.
So I:
- Dived deep into the psychology of marketing, studying timeless advertising strategies from the 1900s
- Began building websites for different clients after gaining confidence from my personal website blog
